Bangor - Tasty treats are helping cook up a cure in Bangor. Students and faculty at Eastern Maine Community College enjoyed a chocolate tasting event to benefit the Penobscot County Relay for Life. The money collected Wednesday benefits the school's relay team. They're participating in the Relay for Life event in late May.
For an entire night they will take turns walking the track at the University of Maine in Orono. The fund raiser helps raise money for cancer treatment and research. The organizer of Wednesday's chocolate tasting says the cause is close to home.
"My mom had cancer so it was more of a close to home type deal so I said I'm going to put my all in that," said organizer Tiffany Carr. When asked about the most challenging chocolate treat to bake, she said, "Challenging thing to make? Peanut butter balls."
"It is very rich and creamy," exclaimed one exuberant student, as he struggled to speak while happily chewing.
Tiffany tells us she hopes the event raised about $200 for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life.
