Ahmadinejad: Iran 'could have behaved better'

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad last night insisted his country was ready to make concessions on its controversial nuclear program, but again accused Israel of fomenting tension in the Middle East and criticized international atomic regulators for what he called ?double-standards.?

Mixing blustery rhetoric with conciliatory remarks, the Iranian leader also told a dinner of academics and students at a New York hotel that the violent protests that erupted in many Muslim countries over a YouTube video mocking the prophet Muhammad were indicative of the ?negative mindset? of many Muslims toward the US.

?Iran has made mistakes, Iran could have behaved better,? he said, speaking through a translator. ?We are ready for transparent dialogue?. We are ready to help to eliminate negative mindsets.?

RELATED ? Iran's nuclear program: 4 things you probably didn't know

Mr. Ahmadinejad?s discussion was one in a long list of media and public speaking events for the Iranian leader ahead of his speech before the United Nations General Assembly tomorrow. The Iranian leader had interviews with CNN, PBS, and a long list of US media outlets.

NUCLEAR CONCERNS

His remarks come as rhetoric has reached alarming levels in the Middle East, with Israeli officials claiming that Iran is nearing a ?zone of immunity,? when a military attack on its nuclear facilities will be impossible and Iran will be able to manufacture nuclear weapons without restriction.

Tehran has repeatedly said its nuclear program is for peaceful energy and research purposes. However, International Atomic Energy Agency officials have documented some moves by Iran that suggest it is keeping its options open, for example, for making highly enriched uranium that could be used in a bomb.

?Iran is entitled to domestic uranium enrichment,? Ahmadinejad said. ?It is a legitimate right?. And what rights do you have if you do not use them??

He claimed that negotiators from the so-called P5+1 ? the five permanent members of the UN Security Council, plus Germany ? have told Iran that they are confident Iran hasn?t moved toward nuclear weapon manufacture. But he said that the IAEA had made ?illegal requests? and its list of requests had ?only gotten longer and longer.?

He also insisted the IAEA?s lack of oversight of Israel?s purported atomic weapons program ? Israel is not a signatory of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, and does not allow the IAEA access to the facility believed to house Israel's nuclear weapons program ? was indicative of a double-standard.

Ahmadinejad said Iran supports a proposal to create an international consortium to oversee Iran?s enrichment program, saying US companies could be involved in building and engineering the program.

'ZIONIST REGIME'

As in the past, Ahmadinejad repeatedly derided Israel, calling it a ?Zionist regime,? though he did not repeat earlier inflammatory remarks that he made in other venues. At a high-level UN meeting earlier in the day, he reportedly said Israel should be ?eliminated.? Israel?s delegation to the meeting walked out of the hall in protest.

?[The Israelis] want to provoke the situation and give rise to more tensions and get themselves out of a dead end,? he said at the dinner. ?We are for eradicating the foundations, the reason these tensions. For a regime to threaten to bomb Iran, this must be condemned by the world.?

?Are the Western governments willing to rein in this regime?? he asked.

He also suggested he thought the 1979 takeover of the US Embassy in Tehran, and the subsequent 444-day hostage crisis, was wrong, telling the room, "I don't want to say this was the right action to take, but I want to put ourselves in their shoes." And he ducked a question about relations between Israel and the Palestinians, saying only that the Palestinians deserved to have a vote about self-determination.

Outside the Warwick Hotel, where Ahmadinejad spoke, a heavy presence of New York police and Secret Service agents added to the already snarled traffic that occurs when dozens of world leaders descend on the city for the UN General Assembly meetings.

Earlier, sporadic groups of protesters gathered on the sidewalks nearby the hotel. One man walked by yelling that the Iranian leader was a ?deranged genocidal nutjob.? In another group of black-clad ultra-Orthodox Jewish men, at least one wore a sign that read ?I?m a Jew, not a Zionist.?

In Israel Jewish women are eager to have sex with Arab men

Jewish men are very bothered about Jewish girls having sex with Arab men.

What is the reason? Arabs are circumcised, too.

I think that it is due to the fact that Muslims do not circumcise babies, they mostly circumcise teenagers.

The later you are mutilating the penis of a boy, the smaller the probability that you cut off too much of the masculine member.

A baby has a very small penis, and if a Rabbi has a bad eyesight, then it is very probable, that something goes wrong during the operation.

According to statistic up to 10% Jewish males have problems with their member because of the botched circumcision.

The American Academy of Pediatrics has reported that while the exact incident of post-operative complications following a circumcision is unknown, it is thought to be between 2-10 per cent. One of the reasons for this is that many problems following circumcision do not become apparent until the child grows into adulthood.

http://menshealth.about.com/od/genit...ircum_comp.htm

Well, 10% is a very hight proportion!

May that be the reason why so many Jewish girls are dating Arab boys?

In any case, this seems to be a big problem in Israel, because Jewish men are fighting against this phenomena.

The holy war against Arab-Jewish relations and the Jerusalem lynch

Those who attacked Palestinians in central Jerusalem claimed they wanted to prevent them from speaking to Jewish girls. The fear of interracial relations once found only in the fringes of the right are now turning into a legitimate, mainstream political issue in national-religious circles.

...

Times have changed. The demand for racial purity is becoming mainstream, re-entering the Knesset through the front door. Leading rabbis, most of them state employees, have signed letters calling on Jewish homeowners to refrain from renting their apartments to Arabs, or warning Jewish girls against dating Arabs.

It?s a form of racism that treats women as the object of the (Jewish) man, his to keep within the tribe. It?s not surprising therefore that the calls to ban women from public life come from the same national-Orthodox circles who want to ?save? those women from Palestinian men.

I believe that only men with damaged penises can be so bothered about Jewish girls having sex with Arab men.

Porsche is one of the world's biggest car manufacturers---hands down. But the debate enters when one says that a Porsche is the best car in the world. Of course fans of other brands would argue, claiming that their cars are the best...but none compares to the milestones that Porsche embedded on the road.

Since its early beginning, the would-be famous father of cars Ferdinand Porsche created remarkable firsts in the car industry, and in the world. It was in the 1900's when he created the Lohner-Porsche electric car at the World Fair in Paris. The wheel hub engines of the young engineer brought him international attention. Within the same year, he had created the world's first-ever hybrid petrol/electric vehicle, at the same time developing all-wheel drive race cars. At this rate, Porsche has made a remarkable advancement for its name. Soon after, Porsche began to create ingenious Grand Prix race cars and different variations of different, innovative sports cars.

The more than 100 years that Porsche dedicated to creating cars that take on a really smooth journey has developed to the creation of sublime car parts as well. One of the important processes that takes place in a car is the process of the cooling system. Chemical energy has to be turned into mechanical power, and Porsche understands that. Most of the energy in the gasoline is converted into heat, so therefore, it is the important task of the cooling system to take care of that heat. No worries about a Porsche overheating, when it careens down the freeway all the driver has to think about is the road-and how lucky he is to be in a Porsche. One major factor that contributes to this are the Porsche Radiators.

The Porsche Radiators is a heat exchanging device designed to transfer heat from the hot coolant that runs through it to the air and blown through it by the cooling fan. As the car moves, the radiator's fa?ade is also cooled by the outside air coming from the grille. Sometimes, a collapsed lower radiator hose or a defective radiator cap causes overheating. So it is very important that when doing a radiator maintenance, also check the two radiator components. A simple preventive maintenance does a lot for the Porsche Radiators to fulfill its task flawlessly. Having the Porsche Radiators flushed periodically as well as having the components of a car's cooling system changed when one part needs replacing can help a lot in ensuring the car's peak-level performance. The Porsche radiators are indeed made only by the best and finest material from the world's finest car maker.

The world's finest race cars hail from Porsche, with a lot of competitions and endurance race titles under its belt. For every decade that Porsche saw through, it made one cornerstone in the history of automobiles after another. Indeed, the milestones that the name Porsche has made is much of an accomplishment that other cars will never be able to surpass, even if they tried.

Verizon iPhone 5 secret? It works on AT

Verizon iPhone 5 is 'unlocked,' the wireless carrier confirms. Verizon iPhone 5 accepts an AT&T card that allows use of that network, although buyers are typically signing up for two years of Verizon service.?

By Peter Svensson,?AP Technology Writer / September 23, 2012

The Verizon version of the?iPhone?5, which went on sale Friday, comes with a secret and unexpected feature: it works on AT&T's network as well.

'; } else if (google_ads.length > 1) { ad_unit += ''; } } document.getElementById("ad_unit").innerHTML += ad_unit; google_adnum += google_ads.length; return; } var google_adnum = 0; google_ad_client = "pub-6743622525202572"; google_ad_output = 'js'; google_max_num_ads = '1'; google_feedback = "on"; google_ad_type = "text"; google_adtest = "on"; google_image_size = '230x105'; google_skip = '0'; // -->

Confirming blog reports, The Associated Press found that the Verizon?iPhone?5 accepts an AT&T "SIM card" ? a little chip that identifies a phone to a wireless network. The phone can then be active on AT&T's network.

It's the first time Verizon?iPhones?have been able to access AT&T's network without complicated hacking procedures. The feature may mean little to most buyers, since they're signing up for two years of Verizon service. But it does give them the option of switching carriers.

It's unclear whether the feature is intended and whether the phones will work with other carriers, such as T-Mobile USA. But Verizon Wireless spokeswoman Brenda Raney confirmed Saturday that the?iPhone?5 models it's selling are "unlocked."

Last year, the first shipments of the Sprint?iPhone?4S were unlocked and worked on AT&T, but Sprint later issued software updates that turned off that capability.

The visitors were 20-3 behind inside 30 minutes but battled back and were beaten 29-22 come the end of the game.

?We had opportunities to win the game, although I don?t think we should have won it, to be honest. We were quite fortunate to be only seven points behind going in at half-time,? Young said.

?We?ve got to respect the ball - we conceded two tries from needless turnovers.

?I thought we lost the physical battle in the first half and left ourselves with too much to do. We seem incapable at the moment of putting an 80-minute performance together.

?We?ve got to start making sure we are a little bit meaner and a little bit tighter in that teams have to earn everything they get rather than us giving away some soft points.?

News photo leads to man's reunion with daughters

NEW ORLEANS (AP) ? When a Florida man saw a news photo of a man rescued from Hurricane Isaac's floodwaters, he was sure it was his brother. It wasn't ? but the mistaken identity started a search that ultimately reunited that homeless man with the two daughters he hadn't seen in 16 years.

The saga began Aug. 30, when The Associated Press published a photograph of the soaked, bearded man being helped by two rescuers in Slidell after he nearly drowned, swept away in waist-deep water. Although he has since been identified as 60-year-old Larry Bailey, his identity was then unknown.

Marcus Michels of West Melbourne, Fla., called the AP's New Orleans bureau on Aug. 31, certain the man was his brother Mitchell Lee Massey, who has been missing for six years.

The AP reached out to the Louisiana Red Cross, where a spokeswoman examined the photo and was able to figure out where the rescuers were based ? and the nearest shelter in Slidell.

Debbie Kemp, a Red Cross volunteer with Safe and Well, a disaster program that helps find people with medical or mental health problems, took up the search. Kemp, of Ann Arbor, Mich., called the number Bailey had given at the shelter and reached Johnny Sontag of Slidell, who gives Bailey food for doing yard work and lets Bailey stay in a trailer he owns.

"He's my buddy, so I always try and look out for him," said Sontag, who has known Bailey seven or eight years. He described Bailey as a wonderful man who often talked about his family and once explained why he hadn't eaten a lunch received from Sontag: "Oh, I gave it away. He was hungrier than me."

However, like so many other times, Bailey wasn't at the trailer. Sontag said he disappeared so often that he had a neighbor call him whenever Bailey returned.

Days later, Sontag found him, but Bailey took off again. Someone ? Sontag doesn't know who ? brought Bailey back to the trailer, incoherent and bleeding from a badly infected head injury. He smelled terrible and was so weak that Sontag said he had to bathe him.

Sontag didn't know where to turn. He couldn't afford medicine. He called Kemp, who told him to take Bailey to an emergency room. Doctors said Bailey would have been dead in a month without medical care, Sontag said.

As Bailey recovered, he and Kemp called Michels from the hospital, and it became clear the two men weren't related. However, the search for Bailey's family continued.

As he regained his strength, Bailey was able to recall the names of relatives and where they lived. Kemp reached his ex-wife, who told her daughters their father had been found.

Bailey had struggled for decades with bipolar disorder and substance abuse, said his 38-year-old daughter, Heather Atkinson of Bradenton, Fla. She said her father had built a successful yard business and a house, but lost both to the alcoholism that made her and her sister stop seeing him.

Atkinson's oldest daughter was a year old when she broke off visits. "He was drinking and I couldn't have my daughter around that," she said.

When she learned he had been found, "I thought maybe when he got out of the hospital we could get him into an addiction program," said Atkinson, who now has three teenage daughters.

Bailey's other daughter, Brenda LaFlamme, of the Orlando, Fla., area, came to Slidell on Sept. 11, the day Bailey was released from the hospital. She soon signed Bailey into a nursing home.

Atkinson said her father told her his skull had been fractured when he was beaten by two men in New Orleans about a month before the flood. He had been treated in an emergency room but not since, and the injury got infected, she said.

Atkinson said she calls Bailey daily, and he's shown improvement.

"All of a sudden, he was totally lucid. He said, 'It's so good to hear from you.' He said, 'I love you.'"

After so many years apart, that was overwhelming.

"He started tearing up. I started tearing up. I said, 'I love you, too. There's no reason you have to be in this situation. Make some life choices and changes and you can have your family around.'"

As for Michels, he remained hopeful his brother is still out there somewhere, and said he was thrilled the man in the photo had been reunited with relatives.

"I'm so happy!" Michels said.

"Now he's got family and hopefully he'll get help that he needs."

Obama shores up Wisconsin while Romney seeks money

WASHINGTON (AP) ? A breeze of momentum on his side, President Barack Obama is moving to shore up support in a key state while he and rival Mitt Romney spar over how to transform a bitterly divided political culture and how to best ensure the financial and health security of older Americans.

With their first debate in less than two weeks, the two men and their campaigns have begun to engage at an accelerated pace, giving any rival's phrase outsize importance and freshly dissecting old policy fights.

Obama was traveling Saturday to Wisconsin, a state that his campaign had considered safely in his column but which Obama aides seem eager to fortify in case Romney's running mate, Wisconsin native and congressman Paul Ryan, can erode the president's support. The trip is Obama's first to the state since February.

Romney, faced with second-guessing within his own party over his strategy, was staying away from swing states Saturday and raising money in California instead, eager to recover his fundraising advantage. Last month, for the first time, Obama and the Democratic Party out-raised Romney and the Republican Party $114 million to $111.6 million.

Romney opened a new line against Obama, casting the president as a failed agent of change. Obama was countering by portraying Romney as an insider beholden to partisan and corporate interests. At the same time, Romney tried to put an end to an old controversy by releasing his 2011 tax returns and his past tax rates, reinforcing his place as one of the wealthiest candidates ever to seek the presidency. Obama sought to gain an edge with older voters and near-retirement baby boomers by renewing his criticism of Romney's Medicare proposals.

Obama enters the weekend with polls showing him in a near tie with Romney nationally. But a new Wall Street Journal/NBC News/Marist Poll shows the president with leads among likely voters of 8 percentage points in Iowa and 5 points each in Colorado and Wisconsin, all battleground states. Polls published earlier this week pointed to leads for Obama in Virginia and Ohio.

In a potential opening for Romney, new state-by-state unemployment numbers show upticks in August unemployment in five swing states.

Romney seized on Obama's claim Thursday that he has learned that he cannot change Washington from the inside and instead must mobilize the public to pressure Congress from the outside.

"Over history there have been people that have changed Washington from the inside," Romney said at a rally Friday in Las Vegas. "And they've done it effectively by showing leadership from the top."

Obama countered with a new line of his own: "What kind of inside job is he talking about?" He suggested that Romney would rubber-stamp the agenda of congressional Republicans or let oil companies run the country's energy policy.

"We don't want an inside job in Washington," Obama said. "We want change in Washington."

Obama confronted the Romney camp from afar on Medicare, addressing an AARP conference in New Orleans by video conference from Virginia moments before Ryan appeared to accuse the Obama administration of weakening Medicare and failing to take tough measures to stabilize Social Security. Ryan was greeted with boos when he called for the repeal of Obama's health care law, which is closing a gap on prescription drug coverage for older Americans.

Obama delivered a detailed argument against Romney's Medicare plan, which would offer seniors a choice between traditional Medicare and a voucher-like system to obtain private insurance. Obama argued that seniors would still suffer because only the healthiest would benefit from purchasing private insurance, while older Americans with greater health care needs would face rising premiums under traditional Medicare.

"The entire infrastructure of traditional Medicare ends up collapsing, which means that all seniors at some point end up being at the mercy of insurance companies through a voucher program," Obama said.

As some Republicans urged Romney to re-energize his campaign, the candidate was headed to San Diego and Los Angeles on Saturday to raise money. On Sunday, he was campaigning in Colorado, a state where polls show Obama holds a narrow lead. Starting Monday, Romney and Ryan will spend three days altogether in all-important Ohio.

In choosing to campaign in Wisconsin Saturday, Obama was bracing his lead in a state that he won easily in 2008 but where Ryan has proven popular as a congressman. Some Republican pollsters detected an uptick for Romney in the state shortly after Ryan was named his running mate. Wisconsin's 7.5 percent unemployment rate is below the national average, but the state's manufacturing industry has been hit hard in recent years.

But public polls still show Obama with leads in Wisconsin. Obama recently has begun airing ads in the state and has sent Vice President Joe Biden there twice this month. Ryan has held events in the state three times since joining ticket, once with Romney along.

Obama's campaign is focused on running up big margins in Milwaukee and Madison, both Democratic strongholds. Obama and Romney will be closely watching the Green Bay region, a swing area that could tip the balance in a close contest.

On Friday, Wisconsin's Republican governor, Scott Walker, said that immediately after Romney chose Ryan as his running mate, the campaign displayed a new sense of enthusiasm, excitement and adrenalin.

"I haven't seen that as much lately," he said, "and I think they need to get back to that if they're going to win this election."

Corn crop larger than expected, soy smaller: USDA

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Searing summer drought slashed U.S. corn production to the lowest level in six years and soybeans to the lowest in nine years, the government forecast on Wednesday, but the corn crop is larger than expected, which will relieve the third year in a row of tight supplies.

With the fall harvest running faster than usual, the Agriculture Department lowered its corn forecast by less than 1 percent; traders had expected a cut of nearly 4 percent from August. The surplus at the end of this marketing year would be the smallest since 1996 but 24 percent larger than the trade expectation.

USDA cut its forecast of the soybean crop by 2 percent from its August figure, twice the cut expected by traders. It said the carry-over at the end of the marketing year would be the smallest in eight years although slightly larger than expected.

Besides the United States, drought damaged the wheat crop in Russia and its neighbors. Russia's crop was 39 million tonnes, down 9 percent from the August estimate and the second large cut in a row. Kazakhstan's crop was reduced 4.5 percent by USDA.

World wheat supplies are only marginally lower despite the losses, said USDA, and feed grain production also is down less than 1 percent, compared to August forecasts. The world wheat crop is down 5 percent from last year and coarse grains down 2.4 percent. World rice production is on par with last year.

Leaders of the Group of 20 wealthy nations said the U.S. forecasts would help determine if an emergency meeting is needed to constrain an upsurge in food prices. France suggested on Tuesday the creation of strategic stocks to buffer food price gyrations.

U.S. livestock producers have petitioned the Obama administration for relief from a requirement to use corn-based ethanol in gasoline.

Google releases Course Builder, takes online learning down an opensource road

Google is well-known for projects with unexpected origins. It's almost natural, then, that the code Google used to build a web course has led to a full-fledged tool for online education. The open-source Course Builder project lets anyone make their own learning resources, complete with scheduled activities and lessons, if they've got some skill with HTML and JavaScript. There's also an avenue for live teaching or office hours: the obligatory Google+ tie-in lets educators announce Hangouts on Air sessions. Code is available immediately, although you won't need to be grading virtual papers to see the benefit. A handful of schools that include Stanford, UC San Diego and Indiana University are at least exploring the use of Course Builder in their own initiatives, which could lead to more elegant internet learning -- if also fewer excuses for slacking.

Wild weather brings flooding to Southern Calif.

LOS ANGELES (AP) ? Monsoonal moisture and warm temperatures were expected to bring more thunderstorms to the desert and mountain areas of Southern California on Monday after a round of wild weather that caused flash flooding and left several thousand homes without power.

Thunderstorms dumped rain and caused flash flooding on Sunday in northern Los Angeles County, while lightning strikes sparked a small fire in the San Bernardino National Forest.

Strong winds produced a blinding dust storm in the Borrego Springs area and knocked down power lines that forced the closure of a portion of Interstate 10 near Palm Springs for a couple of hours.

The wind gusts also downed trees in inland San Diego County and cause a power outage to about 4,000 homes in San Bernardino County.

A Temecula woman was killed Sunday after she lost control of her pickup truck on a freeway in heavy rain.

The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning Monday for most Southern California mountain and desert areas. Heavy downpours were expected in some areas because storm will be slow-moving due to weaker winds.

Better Your Health With These Tips For Quitting Smoking ?

When you are trying to quit smoking, do not attempt to do it overnight. Nicotine addiction is powerful, and it is going to take you some time to wean yourself off of it. You are much more likely to relapse if you quit cold turkey, so take it slow and get it right the first time.

Do not try to start smoking without first developing a plan. Your life has probably been ruled by cigarettes for quite some time. A life without cigarettes will require adjustments in your life. Deciding what you are going to do about cravings, avoiding triggers, and setting your quit date are all essential components of a successful plan for quitting.

Before you begin the process of quitting your nicotine habit for good, take the time to make a specific plan of action. Merely thinking that you can muster up the willpower when needed is a poor way to approach this very addictive habit. Write down a list of things that you will do instead of reaching for that cigarette. This can include going for a walk, calling a friend, making a fresh fruit smoothie, or any number of diversions.

Throw or give away all of your cigarettes or other tobacco products. If you don?t have easy access to tobacco, you won?t be tempted to have one last cigarette or to return to smoking when you feel stressed. In addition, if you decide to smoke, you?ll have to put extra effort into getting tobacco and might change your mind by the time you can get it.

Write down why you?re quitting ahead of time and keep that list handy. When that craving hits you, refer to your list for motivation. Understanding ahead of time why quitting is important to you will help to keep you focused in those moments of weakness, and it might even help to get you back on track if you should slip up.

Enlist the help of those closest to you when you decide to stop smoking. This includes family members, friends and coworkers. Tell them. If they do not know that you are attempting this very important step in your life, they will not know how to help you. Tell them to expect grouchiness, trouble sleeping and impatience. Most importantly, they can help you plan activities in smoke-free environments.

When quitting smoking, you need to first figure out the common behaviors that you associate smoking with. These common behaviors will cause you to experience cravings once you quit. So identifying your triggers can help you to become better prepared to deal with the sudden urges that you will get after you have decided to stop smoking.

If you are trying to quit smoking, it is important to have plenty of support. Inform family members and friends that this is what you are trying to do and enlist their support when you are having difficulties. Quitting smoking is difficult to do alone and family and friends can provide much needed emotional and social support.

Now you can say ?no?, that is if you truly want to quit smoking. The advice from this article has helped you learn to say no, not to anyone in particular but to your brain and to a substance that only causes you harm, smoke, so say no the next time you get the urge to smoke.

James Cameron Planning a Prequel for Avatar 4

james cameron avatar 2 sequel

Sigourney Weaver mades waves when she announced that James Cameron plans to shoot three Avatar sequels as a single massive undertaking. However, producer Jon Landau recently clarified that the Avatar 4 will be filmed separate from its peers (assuming it is made at all).

Cameron has since revealed that a fourth Avatar movie (again, should it happen) would take on the form of a prequel to his original box office record-obliterating 3D sci-fi epic. Meanwhile, Landau?s playing down speculation that Cameron intends to spend the rest of his days making Avatar films ? by suggesting that Cameron?s long-awaited Battle Angel/Battle Angel Alita adaptation will finally come to fruition once the Avatar trilogy has been finished.

MTV picked up the above-mentioned Avatar 4 tidbit during an interview with Cameron, who reiterated that he?s only working on the scripts for Avatar 2 and 3 at the moment. Cameron admitted he?s penning the sequel screenplays as ?one big thing?; however, he has also mentioned in the past that new Avatar movies help to complete a three-part story arc set in motion by the original installment ? focusing on the further adventures of Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) on Pandora, now that his consciousness has been permanently ?locked down? into his Na?Vi avatar.

The filmmaker had the following to say, about a prospective Avatar prequel (ie. Avatar 4):

?I haven?t really put pen to paper on it, but basically it goes back to the early expeditions of Pandora, and kind of what went wrong with the humans and the Na?vi and what that was like to be an explorer and living in that world. Because when we drop in, even in the first film in ?Avatar 1,? as it will be known in the future, we?re dropping into a process that?s 35 years in to a whole colonization.?

Cameron made it known that he does not plan to follow in George Lucas? footsteps with the Star Wars franchise ? by producing three prequels to compliment his original blockbuster trilogy ? rather, once the Avatar trilogy has been finished, ?The only thing left to do is go back to see what it was like on those first expeditions [to Pandora] and create some new characters that then become legacy characters in later films. It?s a plan.?

battle angel alita movie james cameron

Once Cameron is through exploring the Avatar universe, it sounds as though he plans to move onto other projects. Some five months ago, he made it known that a Battle Angel adaptation is something he still plans to tackle in the future ? and Landau confirmed as much to MovieZine, saying:

?We?ll focus on ?Avatar? for the next four or five years. Hopefully right after that? I am confident you will see [a 'Battle Angel' movie].?

Many Battle Angel fans have been excited by the prospect of Cameron lending his technical prowess and storytelling abilities to a live-action adaptation, but have grown increasingly frustrated by the project?s lack of progress. Nonetheless, Landau indicated that both he and Cameron remain committed to seeing the film through:

?It?s one of my favorite stories, I think it is an incredible story, a journey of self-discovery of a young woman. It is a movie that begs the question: ?What does it mean to be human? Are you human if you have a heart, are you human if you have a mind, are you human if you have a soul?? And I look forward to bringing that film to audiences.?

The Avatar sequels are currently without concrete release dates, but Avatar 2 is expected to reach theaters by 2015.

More on Battle Angel as the story develops.

Small Business and Macroeconomics ? SGTreport ? The Corporate ...

by Vedran Vuk, Casey Research:

When anyone talks about macroeconomics and the boom/bust cycle, they more often than not focus on the big picture: GDP growth rates, inflation expectations, and central bank policies. In most of my articles, I am as guilty as anyone else of this. So today, I want to switch it up and discuss the boom?and-bust cycle from the perspective of a small business. How is that a period of low interest rates and excess credit can cause such widespread destruction among enormous banks as well as small businesses? After all, it?s not like Mom and Pop were playing with risky derivatives.

Suppose I was starting a new business during a credit bubble. Let?s say that it?s something somewhat bubble-related, perhaps a high-end kitchen accessories store. Since I?m a very prudent person, I?m not just starting my business on a whim. In fact, I?ve done some serious calculations to discover that my monthly profit margin would be about 20%. It?s not huge, but enough to start my small, high-end kitchen accessories store.
