The UPS Store: Celebrating ?American Made? Small Businesses in ...

Oh, New York in the fall ? I couldn?t think of a better place to celebrate small business with some amazing people!? In July, Martha Stewart launched ?American Made?, a celebration of American artisans and entrepreneurs presented in partnership with The UPS Store. Ten rising stars in food, fashion, design, community, gardening, crafts and technology were chosen as featured businesses by Martha?s team, and an 11th small business was chosen as the Audience Choice award winner through online voting.

The UPS Store was lucky enough to have Martha recognize one of our franchisees and one of their small business customers. We asked our 4,300 plus locations of The UPS Store across the county to submit their stories of how they?ve helped small businesses grow in their local communities. The choice was hard as some wonderful stories were submitted, but in the end, Daniel Scott, owner of The UPS Store on Lincoln Avenue in Chicago, Illinois and his long time customer, Brew Camp, edged out the competition. ??I am so excited to be honored with this award. We work hard to support local small businesses in our community and have been working with Brew Camp for a long time now. This award reaffirms our commitment to small business and all of the ways we can provide support,? said The UPS Store owner Dan Scott.

Brew Camp, ?Chicago?s Local Homebrew Shop,? has relied on Dan?s The UPS Store for everything from printing signage, labels, and business cards to shipping and receiving pots and bottles of live yeast for their specialized beer and recipe kits. Since they set up shop less than two years ago, Brew Camp has expanded into e-commerce where they offer equipment, kits and ingredients to help people make their own beer, wine, soda and cider. Between their unique business and the support Dan and The UPS Store provides, Brew Camp has experienced strong growth.

As the special The UPS Store winners of Martha Stewarts American Made Contest, Dan and the owners of Brew Camp, Jared and Whit, joined The UPS Store team in New York to attend the American Made awards where they were honored with the other small business winners.

?It has truly been an amazing last two years for Brew Camp. With all of the services we take advantage of at The UPS Store, we have been able to grow and better support our customers. We are truly honored to have won this award with Dan,? said the owners of Brew Camp.

In addition to the awards, American Made featured the first-ever, two-day, artisanal fair at Grand Central Terminal with tastings, demonstrations and workshops by Martha, the Living editors, the test kitchen team, and top craftspeople, growers, designers and cooks from across the USA.?The UPS Store booth sent out shipments of the all of the products that were purchased at the fair from the particular winning artisans.

Congratulations to all of the winners and cheers to small business!
